Windwalker Underground Gallery

It is the mission of Windwalker to support professional artists, educate and mentor young artists, and provide collaboration opportunities within our community. Last year Windwalker hosted 53 FREE community events that brought 750 guests to the building and 185 different performers to our stage. We also welcomed 18 different youth artists into the building for free music lessons, and painting projects to help mentor and inspire our local young creatives. We are proud to show that throughout 2017 $16,864 was paid out to local artists for performances, artworks, and education. All of these things were accomplished with no grant funding, or employees, but from the help of private donations, art purchases, and ticket sales. We are excited to celebrate the milestones met last year, and ask for your support to help us continue our mission throughout 2018.

Windwalker has partnered with MiArt Share bringing in artists from Detroit's Artist Village for this fun filled night. We are excited to welcome Chazz Miller with his Explosion of Digital Portraiture. Charles “Chazz” Miller is an internationally-recognized artist. Chazz's paintings have been exhibited in art galleries throughout the world from the Bay Area to Brazil, Los Angeles to London, and Mexico to Manhattan. Chazz's artwork has been featured in magazines, books and even on television. Chazz was profiled in both The Detroit News and The Detroit Free Press (May, 2010). In March, 2010, Chazz was commissioned by United Way to create a hand-painted mural during the Early Childhood Summit which they hosted at Marygrove College. He has also been featured in The Native Detroiter Magazine (2008). His work was part of World Cup Soccer Tour, an exhibition of international sports media (1994).
In addition to working as an artist/teacher, Chazz is the founder of Public Art Workz! (P.A.W.Z.) created to promote art education and community beautification.

Live music during the event is brought to us by Detroit musician Kev E. Kev a Multi-instrumentalist (Bass, Keys, Drums, Vocals, Guitar), Producer, Composer, Arranger, Performer & lifelong Detroiter. Although raised on classic R & B, he's also written, performed and/or arranged smooth jazz, pop, blues, funk and classic rock since age 12. Kev brings friends from Artists Village , and a special guest appearance by Tia Imani Hanna
